Learn to Punch Needle with Ellen Steiger

About

Ellen Steiger has been interested in fiber arts since she was able to hold a needle as a child. Her interests are sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, quilt making, machine embroidery, Scandinavian Loop rugging, Traditional Rug Hooking and Punch Needle Rug Hooking. She is the owner of Needles in the Nest, a studio where classes are taught and rug hooking supplies, including hand-dyed rug yarn and wool, and patterns are sold. Ellen has published a pamphlet on a new version of the Scandinavian Loop Rag Rug with step by step, picture instructions. She has been teaching this technique for 7 years. She discovered Punch Needle Rug Hooking and loved the versatility of hooking a rug of any design. Ellen has been certified as a teacher of Punch Needle Rug Hooking by the Oxford Rug Hooking School. She then tried her hand at Traditional Rug Hooking and can’t seem to stop pulling loops. She is a member of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists, Green Mountain Rug Hooking Guild and the Peninsula Rug Hookers Guild. She enjoys passing on the American tradition of rug hooking and looping to others so that they can experience the joy of designing and making something beautiful with their own hands. Ellen lives in California, in the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains under the Redwoods.
